Model United Nations Simulation on Venezuela

The Model United Nations Club held a simulation on November 1 about solutions to the economic and security problems in Venezuela. The students worked in teams to do research, write resolutions, and then debate and vote on their resolutions. They considered solutions such as military and police intervention, sanctions, rehabilitation for drug traffickers, and boarder control enforced by Venezuela’s neighboring countries.
Max Laro moderated the debate.

The winners were:
Best Resolution: Brazil – Joey Benton, Luke Oligino, and Beckett Rice
Best Speech: Danny Hollister
Best Rookie Speech: Jordan O’Connor
Honorable Mention for Best Delegation: Japan – Larry Li, Katie McKenna, and Jack Tessier
Best Delegation: Egypt – Megan DuRegger, Katie Lynch, Jordan O’Connor

They would like to thank faculty members Mrs Michelle Bing, Ms Ruth Cox, and Mrs Betsy McMillan for their help.

The Model United Nations Club hopes to bring several delegations to the conference at Winthrop University in March.
