Youth in Government

Thirty-five students participated in the South Carolina Youth in Government Conference, November 20-23, in Columbia. BEHS had three mock-trial teams, an appeals court justice(James O’Connor), fourteen lawmakers who participated in the model legislature, two committee co-chairs (Marshall Geier and Ethan Griffith) as well as a candidate for Superintendent of Education (Keegan Bittner).  An “Outstanding Bill Authors Award” went to Ellie Thompson and Ellisann Thomas, and once again BE was named a “Premier Delegation.”  The students learned a lot about our state government and politics as well as civil cases and the appeals process, depending on the student’s role.
