Academics

Welcome from Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Bishop England High School is a faith-centered, academically rigorous college preparatory high school dedicated to educating the whole person. We aim not only to get our students into four-year colleges and universities but to make sure that once they are there that they will thrive. We offer a wide array of challenging and engaging courses in the humanities, STEM, and the arts. In addition to the traditional academic courses, we require all students to follow a religious curriculum throughout their four years. Teaching Catholic values is not limited to the theology classrooms, as faith is integrated into everything we teach. Year after year, our graduates report back that their BE education has prepared them for the academic and social challenges they face at college.

Our teachers work tirelessly to challenge our students – to meet them where they are and to push them to be the best they can be academically. We have four levels of academic instruction: A2, A1, Honors, and AP. All four levels of instruction prepare our students for success at the college level and beginning in their sophomore year, students may opt to take a variety of AP classes through which they may earn college credit. Because we realize that some students excel in certain subject areas while finding others challenging, many of our students take classes at more than one academic level. The relationships we foster between teacher and student help to ensure that our students are placed at the optimal level for their success.

Our entire design, with four-year homerooms, smaller class sizes, and differentiated levels of instruction, provides an environment where our students and teachers work together to raise the bar for what our students can accomplish academically and for who they become as young men and women. We believe that it is only through these close relationships that true academic and spiritual growth happens. Come join us. We can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together!
