National Honor Society -Father O’Brien Chapter
National Honor Society (NHS, www.nationalhonorsociety.org ) is the leader among organizations and societies that promote appropriate recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Sophomores and juniors who are academically eligible will be notified in the second semester and invited to attend a meeting which will begin the process of determining membership.
To be eligible for membership in Bishop England High School’s Father O’Brien Chapter of the National Honor Society as a sophomore or junior, a student must:
- Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 4.5 since grade nine
- Attend Bishop England High School for at least one semester
- Meet the character and leadership qualities determined by the faculty selection committee
- Have a minimum of 16 community service hours completed and verified by 3:00 pm of the final school day before mid-term exams begin
