2023 Day of Service

Grades 10, 11, and 12 served the community with teachers and staff throughout the Low Country. Over 20 local charities were positively impacted! The sophomore class worked together to clean up litter on Isle of Palms and Folly Beach.

The Junior and Senior homerooms worked on home repairs with Homeworks for families in need.

A new service project this year took place on the USS Yorktown. Students digitized historical documents along with various other organization cleanup projects.

Various homerooms landscaped, cleaned, and painted at local churches, schools, camps, and nursing homes, including Camp Happy Days, Carter-May Nursing Home, Christ Our King, and Mebkin Abbey. Homerooms served and packed food at various local food banks, including ECCO, Lowcountry Foodbank, and Tricounty Family Ministries.

Some homerooms served our feathered and furry friends in the community. Students spent time at Pet Helpers caring for the shelter animals and helping to clean and organize. Another group constructed bird shelters with the Audubon Society on Folly Beach.

A few years ago, the idea for 1st Day of Service came from our faculty committee, Service in the Curriculum. The Day of Service serves our community and helps students see that “serving their neighbor” is an integral part of our Catholic mission.

Together as one school, our mission is to love our neighbor. Starting the school year united in service emphasizes to us all, that love of neighbor is at the heart of our Catholic mission.

A special thank you to Mrs. McMillan and Mrs. Fabiano for organizing this endeavor and setting the example with their passion for living out the call to serve others.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible!
