Fine Arts Organizations

Among the many extracurricular activities at Bishop England High School, several fine arts clubs/organizations are offered on our campus displaying talents in singing, writing, performing, photographing and painting.  These opportunities are in addition to fine arts classes offered during the school day.  The school and local communities enjoy these shows and performances by our talented students, and we invite you to an art show, choral performance or drama production this year.

Glee Club

The Glee Club is for all students who love to sing and to explore choral music genre such as musicals and contemporary music. Students who are unable to fit choir into their schedule are encouraged to join our Glee Club. Glee Club meets on Mondays and Wednesdays after school from 3:00 to 3:30 pm. Glee Club focuses more on pop music and is an extension of the Bishop England Choir. The Glee Club moderator is Mrs. Lovell.

Drama Club

Any student who loves to act, who wants to be part of a team of fellow creative students, and who wants to help fundraise and promote the shows at Bishop England can join the Drama Club. Drama Club assists the Director with all aspects of productions, from helping manage auditions, to being in the shows, to working backstage, and to running lights and sound. Club members help to publicize the shows in the community, and the club may attend a local professional theatre performance. Mrs. Fabiano serves as moderator for the club, and the club’s monthly meeting is held at lunch on the second Thursday of each month.

The Drama Club is very active throughout the school year. Not only does the club produce the two main stage shows in the fall and spring, but also hold fundraisers for the club and charities around Bishop England. We go on field trips to local theatres to increase student’s knowledge and experience in acting and technical direction. In the past year, we traveled to Cardinal Newman High School to watch their fall play Almost, Maine and a small group of students went to the Gaillard Center to see the opera Tosca. For fundraisers, the club members helped raise money for the American Heart Association in February and produced a Cabaret to raise money for local families in need.

The purpose of Photography Club is to share photos with fellow club members, to exercise creativity in photography skills, to participate in contests, and to serve the school and community. Club members learn from each other and share and display photographs. An expensive camera is not required to join- students can use a phone camera. Club dues are $5.00. Amy Johnson is the club’s moderator.
