Career Counseling

When it comes to choosing a career, students and adults alike may change their minds many times before settling on something. Our counselors are here to assist students in discovering what they like and dislike, what they are good at, and some personality traits that may help them in identifying a career path. Using YouScience in SCOIR, students and their counselors can look at the results and explore possible occupations that may be a good fit. One of the most important things to remember is that it is okay to be undecided, as this is a time of exploration.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have no idea what I want to be. Is there anything I can do to help me decide on a career path?

Yes. There are many interest inventories and personality tests out there. Start by logging into your SCOIR account and doing the career assessment.

Are there other career resources other than SCOIR?

Yes, there are. Check out Occupation Outlook Handbook which is put out by the U.S. Department of Labor. The OOH can help you find career information on duties, education and training, pay, and outlook for hundreds of occupations. You can also explore College Board’s site and use BigFuture to explore careers.

Career Day

The Counseling Department works hard each year to bring in at least 30-40 professionals in various interesting career fields to talk to our students during Career Day.  If you are interested in being a speaker for Career Day, please contact Lauren Simms at lsimms@behs.com.
